Setup by a team of volunteers in 1973 Burnley Youth Theatre celebrates it’s 50th birthday this year! May it continue for another 50 years of inspiring the local community to express their ideas about the world around them and think towards the future.

2023 marks 50 years since Burnley Youth Theatre opened its doors and over the years the theatre has embraced and celebrated its mission. To produce and programme pioneering work with and for children, young people and their families. They are a purpose built youth theatre set within beautiful woodland and have a rich and unique history that has seen countless curtain calls as well as a few royal visits!

To celebrate this momentous occasion BYT are delivering a year-long creative programme called ‘Reflections and Revelations: Our People, Our Place and Our Future’, which will include everything from events and workshops to exhibitions and shows. The programme of events will capture their extraordinary history, celebrate the memories and milestones and look to the future so that they can continue for many, many years to come.
