This week, we’re launching an exciting campaign to ensure Every Child Deserves Theatre. We believe that every child, no matter their background, should have access to affordable, inspiring performances that spark creativity and joy.

Big Imaginations is a powerful network of 22 incredible arts venues and organisations dedicated to bringing high-quality, imaginative theatre experiences to families across the Northwest and beyond! ✨

Why It Matters

We are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience theatre at least once a year. Our mission is to provide children from all backgrounds with meaningful access to the performing arts. Here’s what it will take to bring this vision to life across some of our regions and boroughs in the North West.

• Hulme: It would cost £20,000 for every child in Hulme to visit the theatre once per year.
• Rochdale: It would cost £500,000 for every child in Rochdale to visit the theatre once per year.
• Wigan: It would cost £1,000,000 for every child in Wigan to visit the theatre once per year.

Our Strategy

The Big Imaginations Network is working hard to bring this dream to life in three key ways:

1. Sponsorship initiatives
   For example, Z-arts is actively seeking a sponsor to cover ticket costs for children in Hulme to attend a show on International Take a Child to The Theatre Day 2026.
2. Advocacy & lobbying
   Our network is engaging with celebrities, politicians, and policymakers to lobby for increased support for children’s theatre, ensuring that arts funding reaches those who need it most.
3. Community engagement
   We’re rallying families, schools, and community leaders to help spread the message far and wide, using multiple channels to get the word out and increase support.
