Artist Imagination Fund Spotlight: ADAM BLAKE
Adam Blake – ‘The Wizard and the Mechanic’
Hear from Adam himself about his practice, career and work!
Hello! My name is Adam and I’ve worked in theatre for 15 years now. My main background is in physical and visual theatre including modern clowning, improvisation, storytelling, puppetry, mask and movement.
Adventure Arts look to bring amazing performances, workshops and above all fun to as many people as it can. Working in lots of different mediums, but always with play at its core.
I have worked for many years in community arts, including with the fantastic Wyldwood Arts who are based in the South West. With them I ran a lot of intergenerational workshops on improvised storytelling, taking primary school kids into care homes and making up imaginative stories all together. This was an amazing inspiration to me.
My work frequently takes me into the world of street theatre and I am a core member of Opposable Thumb Theatre who make work for adult audiences, touring internationally including Europe, Scandinavia and Japan.
The Wizard and the Mechanic was a show originally being made just before lockdown (with Wyldwood Arts mentioned above, who kindly donated the masks and props), which put a long pause on the project. But it’s now back!
