About Unity Theatre

Unity Theatre is open to everybody to be inspired and entertained, and to enjoy outstanding live experiences, up-close.

We are a venue at the heart of Liverpool with two studio theatre spaces and deliver an annual programme of professional theatre, artist development, and community engagement. We host around 160 live performances annually, reaching approximately 20,000 audience members.

Our programme includes:

  • Local, national, and international contemporary theatre
  • Family friendly performance work
  • A dedicated artist development strand supporting emerging and underrepresented creatives
  • Participation projects working with young people, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those from low-income backgrounds
  • Long-term partnerships with organisations such as 20 Stories High (youth theatre), RAWD (disabled artists), DaDa (disability and Deaf arts), and Homotopia (LGBTQIA+ art)

We are a registered charity and combined arts organisation, rooted in a history of political and community-driven theatre. Today, we remain committed to providing creative experiences that empower, entertain, and connect. Our vision is a fairer, more inclusive arts sector that truly reflects the diversity of Merseyside and the UK.

We are an Arts Council NPO organisation and part of Culture Liverpool’s CAIP programme.

How we help artists

Creative’Pool

Creative’pool is Unity’s talent development programme, providing over 200 Merseyside-based artists a year with the training, networks, skills and resource to build a sustainable career.

Everything in the Creative’pool programme is completely free – you just need to sign-up for a Creative’pool Membership. This membership also allows artists to access £6 tickets for everything in our production programme.
