The Big Imaginations Festival is a welcoming festival. We recognise that families come in all shapes and sizes and we strive to make sure that everyone’s visit to the festival will be one to remember.

If you or anyone in your party have any specific access requirements please let the venue know directly using the details on the festival website, so that we can provide you with the best possible experience.

Plain Text Brochure

The Big Imaginations Festival brochure is available in plain text format upon request. If you need to request a plain text version or any other format please get in touch with Laura Stevens:

Programme Guidelines

We have introduced programme guidelines to help you judge which bits of the programme will help your family to have the very best experiences. These guidelines might be especially useful if members of your family have specific access needs.

Access-Circles_GI Get Involved – There are elements of audience participation in the show.

Access-Circles_VS Visually Spectacular – If you don’t follow the storyline, the performance has a lot to offer visually, a feast for the eyes.

Access-Circles_SF Speech Free – The storyline doesn’t rely on script or speech, communication through movement, music or light.

Access-Circles_M Music – Feel the beat! This is a music based performance.

Personal Assistant Tickets

Personal Assistant tickets are available at most Big Imaginations venues. If you would like to take advantage of the free personal assistant ticket scheme, please book your tickets as normal through the venue website, over the phone or in person at the Box Office.

You are automatically eligible for this scheme if you can supply one of the following:

  • Front page of DLA / PIP (no specific rate required)
  • Front page of Attendance Allowance letter (no specific rate required)
  • Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind)
  • Recognised Assistance Dog ID card

Access to Performances

There will be BSL Integrated performances available during the festival.

Tales of Birbal:

27 October – Unity Theatre

31 October – Theatre Delicatessen

4 November – Z-arts

5 November – The Boo

Strobe Lighting

Strobe lighting is not used in performances at the Big Imaginations festival. If this were ever to change, we would make every effort to inform our audiences both before and during the festival.

For any performances with strobe lighting we would include details in the event website information. In addition, the festival team would notify audiences at each venue that strobe lighting would be used, specifying at what point in the performance this would be.

Family Standards

Look out for the Family Standards logo across the 26 venues. Organisations that sign up to the Family Arts Standards value families and want to provide good family experiences.
