Access

The Big Imaginations Festival is a welcoming festival. We recognise that families come in all shapes and sizes and we strive to make sure that everyone’s visit to the festival will be one to remember.

If you or anyone in your party have any specific access requirements please let the venue know directly using the details on the festival website, so that we can provide you with the best possible experience.

Programme Guidelines

We have introduced programme guidelines to help you judge which bits of the programme will help your family to have the very best experiences. These guidelines might be especially useful if members of your family have specific access needs.

Look out for our “What’s it like?” icons in the programme to help you find out more about the show before you arrive:

Get Involved – There are elements of audience participation in the show.

Visually Spectacular – If you don’t follow the storyline, the performance has a lot to offer visually, a feast for the eyes.

Speech Free – The storyline doesn’t rely on script or speech, communication through movement, music or light.

Music – Feel the beat! This is a music based performance.

Personal Assistant Tickets

Personal Assistant tickets are available at most Big Imaginations venues. If you would like to take advantage of the free personal assistant ticket scheme, please book your tickets as normal through the venue website, over the phone or in person at the Box Office.

You are automatically eligible for this scheme if you can supply one of the following:

      • Front page of DLA / PIP (no specific rate required)
      • Front page of Attendance Allowance letter (no specific rate required)
      • Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind)
      • Recognised Assistance Dog ID card

All information about the Big Imaginations Festival is available as a word document upon request – please email laura@z-arts.org

Strobe Lighting

As a rule strobe lighting is not used in performances at the Big Imaginations festival. If this were ever to change we are committed to making audiences aware of this both before and during the festival.

For any performances with strobe lighting we would put ‘STROBE’ on the brochure and website information, as well as having the festival team notifying audiences at each venue that strobe lighting would be used, and at what point in the performance this would be.

Family Standards

Look out for the Family Standards logo across the 26 venues. Organisations that sign up to the Family Arts Standards value families and want to provide good family experiences.
